Athens ISD Superintendent Dr. Janie Sims (third from left) hosted the final gathering of the school year of the Kaufman County Area Superintendents. Those gathered discussed matters of importance to public schools, particularly in regards to the ongoing Texas Legislative Session. Cody Craig, district director to State Rep. Keith Bell, gave a presentation and fielded questions.

🌟 Hooray for the Athens Public Education Foundation! Pictured is APEF President Cody Craig presenting Deputy Superintendent Ginger Morrison with a check for $30,000. The money will be divided among the campuses ($5,000 for each elementary, $7,000 for Athens Middle School and $8,000 for Athens High School) to fund the campuses' choice of end-of-year projects, celebrations or materials — such as books for students to keep, bounce houses, a hamburger cookout, outdoor games, canopies, and ice cream and coffee trucks. AISD is grateful for the hardworking APEF volunteers who bring joy to students and teachers! #HornetNation

Starting Monday through May 24, please donate your student's uniform clothing at the campus office. Students who donate may wear jeans on the last day of school. All gently worn uniform clothing will go to First Baptist Church of Athens' Children's Clothes Closet. Items will be re-distributed to AISD-enrolled students in need on July 24/25, 8am-1pm, and July 26/27, 1pm-6pm, at The Green House (402 E. College Street).

This May 6, we're celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to all teachers for everything you do!

Come meet with us Monday, May 22 for "A Night at the Movies!" AHS Pride of the Hornets will be playing music from Harry Potter, The Greatest Showman, Jurrasic Park, and more!
