Athens High School

Five outstanding Athens High School athletes signed on March 6 to play sports at the collegiate level.

(From left) Jamauri Manning will play football for Trinity Valley Community College; Jaxson Stiles will play football for Tyler Junior College; Gage Friedrich will play football for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; Sara Lott will play softball at Dallas Christian College; and Dakota Autry will play softball for Lyon College in Arkansas. The signings mark a remarkable achievement, underscoring the dedication and talent of these student athletes. Only about 7 percent of high school athletes (about 1 in 13) go on to play a varsity sport in college.
