The Athens High School Lady Hornets powerlifting squad brought the heat March 2 at the Region 3 Class 4A Division 1 meet in Longview — with one member advancing to state! Congratulations to our incredible lifters (from left): Yiblia Rico, Nixie Torres, Sarah Castaneda, Anna Kidd and Emily Pugh — and especially to Anna, who qualified to compete at the upcoming state meet! The Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association State Championship meet will be held March 15 at Comerica Center in Frisco.
