Athens ISD is offering training to foster parents who may represent a student with a disability during the special education process — as well as to community members interested in becoming a surrogate parent in order to represent a student. The special education process is outlined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).

The training will be offered free of charge on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 11:30am-1pm at the AISD administration building (104 Hawn Street, Athens).

A light lunch will be reserved for any individuals who RSVP to Brooke Brock, executive director of special programs, at 903-677-6907 or bbrock@athensisd.net.
