Athens ISD teachers and staff gathered Monday morning for the annual convocation, which kicks off the new school year. This year's theme for AISD is "Focus on the why." That is, focus not only on doing things well, but also on the "why" of what is to be done. The convocation keynote speaker was U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Brad DeLoach, the nephew of AISD Superintendent Dr. Janie Sims (pictured together). LTC DeLoach serves as the commander of 2nd Battalion 227th Aviation Regiment (GSAB), 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Cavazos, Texas.
