Sabrina Becker and Caleb Bomer lead the Athens High School class of 2021 as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Becker has a weighted GPA of 109.646 and Bomer of 108.813.

 

Both students accrued several college credits through Trinity Valley Community College, as well as Advanced Placement exams.

 

As a member of the AHS National Honor Society, Becker served as an officer for two years. She also has the distinction of being a four-year Athens Public Education Foundation Superintendent’s Scholar and was voted student of the month her senior year. Her numerous activities throughout high school include cross country, soccer, Math UIL, and the Pride of the Hornets Band. She played both the clarinet and the bassoon and participated in All-Region Band, receiving the highest performance rating possible on her solos.

 

Bomer was involved in a variety of activities from sports to academics throughout high school. As a member of the AHS National Honor Society, he performed many hours of community service. In addition, he earned the distinction of being a four-year Athens Public Education Foundation Superintendent’s Scholar. He participated in fishing, basketball and baseball all four years, earning UIL Academic All-State honors in basketball. On the AHS fishing team, he and his teammate and cousin, Reed Allen, qualified for the Texas High School BASS Association regional fishing tournament each year and competed during their sophomore and senior years in the state tournament.

 

Becker will be attending Texas State University to study psychology and music composition, and Bomer will study mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University.
